The clock has been moved back an hour. The days are quickly getting darker, it is getting colder and it is raining, again! Light has a massive impact on your productivity. So, how do you ensure that the dark days don’t cause a dip in your productivity? Read this article for 3 tips against (Autumn and Winter) dips!

Tip 1: Let’s take a light

Light stimulates the production of serotonin and vitamin D. Two very important ingredients when it comes to your productivity! Make sure you get enough light. For example, by going for a walk with your colleagues during lunchbreak and be sure to bring an umbrella in case it rains. That way you get fresh air and light so you can get back to work in the afternoon.

Tip 2: Take the stairs

Besides light, exercise is important in combatting the Autumn dip. So, when possible, take the stairs to the floor you need to be on. Take regular, short breaks to grab a drink and don’t bring anything for your colleagues! That’s a great way to stimulate them to also step away from their desks and keep moving. No stairs at your office? Park your car further away from the entrance to get some extra steps in, and, above all, don’t forget that lunchbreak walk!

Tip 3: Water against the Autumn hangover

Are you thirsty? That’s a sign you drank too little! A thirst stimulus registers late, especially when you are completely focussed on work. Your urine is a good indicator of your hydration levels. When urine has the colour of apple juice or darker and even smells, you need to refuel. Thankfully, you will regularly stretch your legs after reading this article and now you know that you need to keep an eye on your hydration levels! Spot a colleague working full steam? Remind them that it might just be time to refuel.
